So I found these the other day. For context, waaaay back in the distant past mumble was not the ubiquitous tool that it is now, in fact that only really came about when mumble was automagically included alongside the PR installer (when was that anyone?). When I started playing properly in 2009~ there were a couple of servers that encouraged mumble, and one that enforced it.

So if you wanted to communicate with another squad leader directly you would have to set up a custom keybind in Teamspeak or whatever voip programme you were using. Which obviously would only be a thing in clan matches or tournaments, hence the following:

ow the wonderful keybinding of TS Whispers.

To be honest mumble didn't really completely replace that, if only would be smart about how comms should be managed. A great example is: create a whisper key for your squad medic and have him setup a whisper back function that allows him to whisper back to the last guy that whispered to him. That alone reduces squad comms a bunch...

Lots of nicknames in those papers should come back and give the new PRT a go! Well, except for one or two names :p

Yeah, thank god Curry is MIA.

I did this shit during my early QRF commander times when I couldnt remember all the whisper keys x)

Murkey

Yeah, I have a few photos like that.

Sq1 - Rex
Sq2 - PumpHammer etc

Officer meetings were half battleplan discussion and half whisper checks. When we first introduced mumble as a tool for all the grunts in CATA (maybe C8). The original plan for grunts was:

Grunt1 "mumble?"
Grunt2 "Mumble"
Grunt1 [Actual local comms message]
etc

The squad leaders had so many comms to think about we didn't want grunts to miss squad comms. Back when squad comms were tight as shit and people used spotted vs contact, reported distance every time etc. But I digress.

Good times.

uhhh Pumphammer! I miss that guy!

Most people don't know but he was a Dev! with another nickname though... he made the supply crate and other stuff :D

I made a few videos between C8 and 10.

Here's the list - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYdU7t2TetYnthbTw_KhetyafZIKt-lln

The first video seems to be corrupted, but the rest should be ok. I know a lot of you will have seen these before, but I too am feeling nostalgic.

Cheers, Murkey.

p.s. No apologies for the music.

We only had like 2 for SCO and CO, nothing like the 10 or so key binds that we used to have.

P.S. I didn't hate setting them up in C11, don't know about others.

I recently discovered my long forgotten video from C9. Back in CATA, it was Piwkin and I driving SPG around on Fallujah.

DjdC7-NV65o

Actually I was just aiming LAV on the edge of the vision, half in the fog, and thought I got 2 kills for it, but then found AAV on the replay.

Later in this battle NATO tried their last push which was totally countered by Soban. He was waiting whole round to detonate his IED and killed most of blufor team in one click.

Haha, I remember seeing that vid before, presumably at the time. Fallujah is one of the battles of C9 I actually have vague recollections from. You got any more unlisted PRT vids? :D

I also remember that video from when it was made. Pretty weird bug and funny how it ended up hitting the AAVP instead :D

And yes, Soban killed 2 full Humvee's in different roads with 2 separate arty IED's, right at the last minute of the round when they just rushed the cache in those. He waited the whole round in the bathroom of a T-Building to do that :D

Fair-play in a nutshell... and amazing that an admin actually approved that. Just shows how bad the PRT administration was back in the day... but then again, most admins came from NATO ;)

Cost us 100 tickets for actually nothing more than a 10m delay. But then again it was funny and exciting.

I dont have any idea about no-go zone debate and admin opinions back then. I was just an SL tasked with deploying a hat on enemy base and i tried to enjoy it to the end xD

Hey guys!
With tear in my eye I still remember good times we had, tournaments especially, hence the thread topic. To cut it short - I miss you all! Still didn't find any other game/ppl worth of PR/PRT experience.
From time to time I'm checking activity and news here and on the main forum. Not playing that much unfortunately. Last time I give it a try was with release of 1.0, just to find out how rusty I am :(
I receive some awaking call, the other day, regarding some info from past PRT's, that is why a reactivated. Although, as much I would like to take active participation in tournaments and help out, current obligation don't allow me (the only free time I have right now is after 2300h). It ‘s not gonna be like that forever (I hope) just current phase. So when this change back to “normal” I would like nothing more than to fight one more time alongside with you all. In the mean time give me right to feel proud when reading this accomplishments and to see what Cougars/Vipers have become. :)

A little late to the ever morphing conversation:
TS2 allowed making a template so a team in a camp only needed one guy to make it and everyone else could use it. TS2 keybinds were a piece of cake then. Then TS3 came along .... :(
Back in TS2 era a joke about having the ability of keybinds and some ppl who seemed to completely ignore them was summarized in this image:
